Description
The Hornady V-Max is a purpose-built varmint bullet design, and this 17 Caliber loading brings that performance to reloaders working with lightweight, high-velocity varmint cartridges. Each bullet is a 20 grain spitzer with a .172″ diameter, built around a lead core wrapped in a precision copper jacket and crowned with Hornady’s signature polymer tip.
The V-Max is engineered for varmint hunters who demand accuracy and explosive terminal performance. The sharply pointed polymer tip initiates expansion on impact and helps drive a high ballistic coefficient for flat trajectory. Carrying a ballistic coefficient of .185 and a sectional density of .097, these projectiles expand and fragment at velocities as low as 1,600 fps, delivering the dramatic expansion and explosive fragmentation the V-Max line is known for.
Boxes ship at 100 bullets per box, with 40 boxes per case for a full 4,000 bullets per case. These V-Max projectiles are intended for rifle use in .17 caliber varmint chambers and are component bullets only – not loaded ammunition – ready to be sized, seated, and loaded to your favorite varmint recipe.
