Sized as a 38 caliber projectile with a .357 diameter and weighing 140 gr, this bullet pairs a polymer Flex Tip with a copper jacket over a lead core, all locked together by Hornady’s InterLock ring for reliable weight retention and consistent expansion across a wide velocity range.
The FTX uses a secant ogive profile that produces an aerodynamic shape with a tapered front section and extended bearing surface. A cannelure provides a positive crimp reference for both revolver and lever-gun handloads, while the combination of a .160 ballistic coefficient and .157 sectional density delivers the downrange performance expected for medium game hunting and self-defense applications.
Designed to feed reliably through the tubular magazines of 357 Magnum lever-action rifles and to function consistently in 357 Magnum revolvers, the polymer-tipped FTX brings the same Flex Tip technology that revolutionized lever-gun ballistics to both handgun and rifle platforms.
