At the heart of this load is Hornady’s patented Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) bullet – a 155-grain polymer-tipped hollow point that initiates reliable expansion at the lower velocities typical of short-barreled defensive rifles, while the patented tip prevents clogging and aids reliable feeding from detachable box magazines. The FTX design is built around controlled expansion and limited over-penetration, making it well-suited to home-defense scenarios.
