Description
The Hornady Lock-N-Load Modified Case is a precision brass case specifically prepared for use with the Hornady Lock-N-Load Overall Length (OAL) Gauge. Machined for the 6mm Creedmoor cartridge, this modified case has the primer flash hole removed and replaced with a fine thread that threads directly into the OAL gauge body, giving the handloader a stable, perfectly aligned platform for checking and adjusting bullet seating depth.
The case is neck-sized .002 over standard dimensions, so bullets slide in and out smoothly while still providing a snug fit that mimics how the round will chamber in the rifle. This eliminates the guesswork of setting overall length and helps the reloader achieve consistent, accurate ammunition whether using a straight or curved Hornady OAL gauge. Once threaded into the gauge, the user simply seats a bullet into the case mouth, closes the gauge on the comparator, and reads the measurement against published load data or a preferred COL.
